Our Story

Aardling was founded by Mathias Verraes in 2020. Mathias had been a consultant travelling to clients across Europe and the US to help with modelling, architecture, and software design strategy. To meet demand, he collaborated with others, and built up a small trusted network. Alongside his consultancy work, Mathias founded the DDD Belgium meetup in 2013 and the DDD Europe conference in 2016.

As more and more clients trusted him with more and more complex projects, Aardling was founded. Our work ranges from helping leadership with strategic design and business strategy, to helping engineering teams with domain discovery, modelling, and architecture. For organisations ready to scale, we provide embedded consulting and training to ensure these ideas are safely implemented into production.

Since 2020 we've worked with many different types of customers, including Fortune 500 financial institutions, car manufacturers, healthcare organisations, and global logistics companies.

Beyond consulting our clients, we have helped thousands of people through our training courses at DDD Academy. And we continue to organise a series of conferences, including DDD Europe, Data Mesh Live, and NewCrafts.
